Grand Tetons
Our stay in Grand Tetons has been very interesting. Again - just a few miles south of Yellowstone but totally different environment. The autumn colors have been in full force with the aspens glittering. . We got to see 3-4 moose, lots of Pronghorn and a coyote. No bear which was surprising as there were signs everywhere for them. A couple of great hikes up - the best was to Targert Lake to get the reflection of the mountain in the still water. It was 6 miles but worth it!
Fun Facts about Grand Teton National Park - the Park received its name from early 19th century French trappers who called the Teton Mountain Range "les trois tetons", which means "the three breasts" or "the three teats". Rising nearly 7,000 vertical feet above the Jackson Hole Valley to the East, there are virtually no obstructions because there are no foothills. It is the youngest mountain range in the Rocky Mountains.
