Bemidji

It was very interesting to see where the Mississippi river starts - it is such a small trickle from Lake Itasca that begins down its 2500+ miles to the Gulf of Mexico - gaining more strength as other rivers join it.   It is amazing to think this is the same tiny river that in just 50 miles becomes 11 miles wide where it forms Lake Winnibigoshish

We also did a tour of Bemidji which, of course, must include a selfie with Paul Bunyan and Babe the Blue Ox.  Why do so many cities in different states want to claim Paul as their own?  But then again - Bemidji has his jersey, socks, gun, candy bar, fishing gear so he must have been here.  LOL!   I wonder though - why did he need such big fishing gear if the fish in the lake are normal size?   He would be catching a whale with that hook!

It was also my sweet grandpuppy's birthday!  Happy Birthday, Coco!  I hope you are enjoying the presents.

Paul's Jersey - that doesn't look big enough does it?

Tribute to one of the local marines who raised the first flag on Iwo Jima in 1945.  Fortunately, he did survive the war.

Happy birthday sweet Coco!
