Apalachicola

Apalachicola is a fun town!  It isn't huge but it is definitely "Old Florida" as promised.  Lots of cute shops and sitting right on an inlet river - plenty of pelicans, shrimp boats and great sea food.   We enjoyed our day walking around. 

We visted 2 nearby state parks - fun to walk around and explore.  One, Wakulla Springs, is where the Creature of the Black Lagoon and other movies were filmed.

We also Sopchoppy, which is the worm grunting capitol of the world - yea we had to look that up.  First Sopchoppy means long twisted river.   And worm grunting... well basically that a practice of driving wooden stakes into the ground and rubbing the top of the with metal to create a grunting sound that drives worms to the surface where they can be collected for bait.  It is serious business in the town and there is even a festival for it.   We missed the festival by just a few weekends - darn!
