Mineral Wells

Fort worth and Granbury

Mineral Wells was an interesting little stop.  It's big claim to fame is the "Crazy" water - the 'legend' is below.  You can't go visit the wells themselves but they do give sample of the 3 'levels' of water - they ranged in taste to nothing at all to very sulfer taste.  We were not able to visit the Haunted Baker Hotel as it is being restored and won't open until 2024.  The Baker Hotel is also famous for being the first hotel in Texas to have a pool AND air conditioning.  :)   It must have been quite a remarkable site to pull up to in the early 1900s.

We had a fun day in Fort Worth - we explored the Fort Worth Water Gardens and a Christmas store.   Afterwards we met up with Billy and Cherice in a most unexpected Christmas Mexican restaurant!   It was like a Christmas explosion!   The temperature has been in the 80s here but Bill has Christmas music going in the truck nonstop!

Our final stop was in Granbury.  Their city park was so pretty - a nice walk along a river.  We also explored the town square to see the old jail and the Town Center.  We had to stop and see the World's Largest Cedar Rocking Chair, of course.  It used to be the Largest Rocking Chair by Guiness World Records but someone built a bigger one so now it is Largest CEDAR chair.  Good adaption!

Crazy Water History  - {quoted from the website listed}   The legend goes like this: In late 1881, a woman who suffered from dementia would sit by the well all day drinking the mineral water. People slowly began to notice that the crazy old lady was not so crazy anymore. Had the water from the well alleviated the lady’s “crazies”? The well became known as the “Crazy Well”.

"famous well"

Baker Hotel

The splashes sounded lovely

There were steps going down to the bottom ... yeek!

The quiet pool was very peaceful.

The last one was the fountain pool - also nice but a bit loud after walking in the quiet area.

We had a nice time climbing the 'mountain' too

Bil loved the local beer!

They do everything big here!

Love these colors

So much to see

You can buy it all too!

Someone's happy!

"Largest" Kaledoescope

Campo Verde

Christmas everywhere you look!

So much fun!

The train (above the door) went around the entire restaurant.

80 degrees today in mid-November - love it!

Old jail - the story goes one of the inmates tricked the sheriff and locked him up in his cell but then dropped the keys off at the judge's house on his way home.   :)

Town Center

Too bad you can't sit in it!
