Mt Rushmore Hill City
Our time at Mt Rushmore was made more special by meeting up with Bill's brother and sister in law from Wisconsin and his sister and brother in law from Montana. We visited the mountain with the big heads on it…. done! Bill did fabulous driving through the small tunnels of the Needles highway - the first one we all held our breath. It was cool to see Mt Rushmore framed in the tunnel. After the park we had a drive around a bit looking for bison with no success. After a picnic lunch we were all ready to get out of the van and headed back to relax for a bratwurst dinner.
We had a great time driving the Wildlife loop of Custer’s State Park seeing the herd of bison (finally!), the mules, an antelope on the run and smaller little animals. The bison got crazy close to the van!!. A gorgeous area that was so great to explore. We had a good time at Red Ass Brewery - but more fun at the winery with a tasting.
We now head for Gering Nebraska next to explore Scott’s Bluff and other sites there. Any suggestions for us? Please email using the link below. So far Scotts Bluff and Carhenge are on the list.
