Bryce Canyon

Zion

Bryce Canyon was as spectacular as the first time I saw it with my daughter, Kim.  Bill was equally impressed.   The hoodoos are incredible - each so different and the colors are remarkable.   So many variations of pink, orange, white, tan, and yellow.  As usual - my photos do not do it justice.  We went the second day to watch the sunrise over the canyon, hike the 4 miles down into the canyon (and back up!) and then followed up with a treat of donuts and diet coke at Kodachrome State Park.

The next day we took a trip to see Horseshoe Bend and Navajo Bridge.   Photos here - so much fun to see in person!  It was a long day but so worth it as I have wanted to see it.  Plus we saw a condor!

We also took a trip to Grand Staircase-Escalante - wow was that area a surprise!   Click here to see photos of that trip!

Zion was a fun day but we knew it was going to rain so we didn't plan too much.  The 1 mile tunnel was a fun - a bit freaky!  A shock to come out on the other side and it was hailing and snowing - not fun down the switchbacks to the canyon!  The shuttle was shocking empty - we picked a day we knew it would not be busy but just one other couple riding out with us on the way there. We did walk out to the Narrows but it was closed due to the rain and possible flooding;  still a pretty walk.   As we took the shuttle back the clouds and fog came in so we had timed it just right!   A bit of snow over the mountains on the way home... not fun!

Our final day in the area we decided to skip the long drives and explore the nearby Red Canyon.
