Cloquet - Duluth

We always love being up by Duluth.  It has its own atmosphere and culture like nowhere else we have found.   The water is high everywhere which really adds so much to the experience of the waterfalls and rivers.

We stopped to get smoked fish at Kendalls in Two Harbors - yum!   We enjoyed our picnic looking over the water with the sea gulls flying by ever closer hoping for some tastes.

We drove over to Superior but even though the day was clear and sunny- the lake still had a fog over it.  It was still pretty but definitely could not see out very far.  We headed back over to the MN side and spent a bit of time walking around Duluth.

Jay Cooke State Park was fun to go see the water falls.  It always looks like root beer flowing over the rocks.  :)

We also headed over to Wisconsin to see Pattison and Amnicon Falls State Parks.  Such fun to see the water flowing.   Pattison has the largest waterfall in WI.   The water in Amnicon looked like tomato soup in some spots!  We also stopped by an old windmill and bridge that are no longer in commission but interesting to read the history.

We spent some time at the Leif Erickson Park and Rose Garden that is right over Hwy 35 - the roses were gorgeous and the train going by is always a treat.

Then on the way back I found on my app a replica of the Titanic in someone's yard.  We had to check that out!  It is a memorial to the Titanic built by the owner.   The house was previously owned by a woman who was a survivor of the sinking back in 1912.  She lived until 1977 and the current owner built the replica in her honor. Very cool and wonderful detail on the ship.
