Springs Tour
We had a fun 4 days on our Springs Tour, mostly around central/northern Florida. As I look at the photos - they look very similar but the feel of each park was different. It was impossible to capture but each one was unique. It was fun to see them! We did see manatees so that was fun. Also so many turtles - especially at Troy State Park - Bill counted 17 at one point!
It was our second time at Rainbow Springs State Park - always so gorgeous with those turquoise colors but we still missed out on the azaleas! They were just barely starting to bloom.
We really got a surprise at Homosassa State Park as it is mostly zoo. It holds many native animals that can't be returned to the wild. Very nicely set up. There was also an underwater viewing area for manatees and fish! So many were in the warmer river today with the cooler weather. So fun to see them - too many to even count.
Finally we went to the 'famous' Weeki Wachee State Park - that took some wrapping our head around it. It is very commercial with the 'mermaid' show which has been going on for 75 years. We saw the production of "The Little Mermaid" but they have done other shows underwater as well. We loved watching Lu, the hippo, sleep standing up. Well he is celebrating his 63th birthday this year so afternoon naps are pretty necessary.
