Seattle
Olympic National Park
What a joy to see such a lush beautiful area! After weeks of seeing areas that are dry due to the drought - we loved seeing the green trees and water and hearing the rain on the roof. The lakes are full and the streams/rivers are running fast. Love it!!
We had a very fun day exploring Olympic National Park and especially the temperate Hoh rain forest. While not a tropical rain forest - it was still so green and filled with such a variety of plants - ferns, trees, moss. So lovely.
We stayed in Port Townsend at Fort Worden which is right on the Strait of Juan de Fuca which goes into the North Pacific ocean. Port Townsend is a great little town with lots of character. We have fun walking the streets and the coastal area of town. There were so many deer - just hanging out in people's yards.
Flying back to Bill in Seattle after my trip to MN to see family
Busy in Seattle but we did drive by the market for fun
Mt Rainier
Wind swept trees by the Strait of Juan of Fuca - where the campground is located
Lighthouse near the campground. Hard to tell but that is a mountain behind - not clouds
Lake Crescent - heading to Olympic National Park
Herd of Elk just outside the entrance of the park
He is not afraid at all
Patrolling
The ferns were incredible - large and so lush
The stream was so clear
Photos don't capture the colors at all
But the moss - that is what was truly amazing
So thick on some trees it actually breaks branches off
Such a fun walk
Various types of moss made it really interesting
Having fun on this walk!
This tree fell over - roots and all. It is still living and trees have grown on top in the dirt in the roots
Gorgeous
The ground cover moss
Looks and felt soft
The ferns
Back to the stream - colors were amazing
The sound of the stream added to the feeling of being in a rainforest
Still hanging by the road - eating
Leaving the park - the trees were thick.
It actually glowed golden in the sun
