Traverse City

We had a nice stay at Traverse City.  The highlight was definitly meeting up with Ben B and his wife, Ann!   What a fun couple they are!  Ben and Bill went to High School together in La Crosse. They treated us to a lovely meal where we spent over 3 hours catching up/learning about each other lifes.  We also finally got to try some warm cherry pie al mode which was only appropriate since they are in the Cherry Capital of the World!

We were unable to go out on a sail with them on their gorgeous boat due to weather and timing but it was fun to hear all about their travels.  We did get to go see the sailboat and she is a beauty!

We also got to see the Tall Ship out on the water.   Bill got to go to a very good brewery - Right Brain Brewery where tastings are 6oz pours!

We also drove out to the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore.   Fun to see but I was unable to even get to the overlook with my boot on.   Bill braved the short climb up and took the photos but he did not venture down onto the dunes.  Those people are literally having to crawl on their hands and feet up that huge embankment once they go down.  I am not saying I would have gone down if it wasn't for my boot - but no I would NOT have gone down!   :-)

Next we head to central Michigan - Roscommon - more in the middle of the mitten.   After that we head to Oscoda on Lake Huron.   We have already seen some leaves changing - eeekkkk! - so hopefully we aren't too late for autumn colors when we head East next month!!

So far we have seen Lake Superior and Lake Michigan.  Lake Huron is the end of this week.  We will hit Lake Erie when we go to Cleveland in September.  No plans yet to see Lake Ontario on this trip but we did go to the Canadian side of Niagra Falls when we were there a few years ago technically we have seen it!
