The Badlands

The Badlands were so beautiful!   We spent the day driving around Badlands National Park and stopping at various overlooks.  We felt like every view was unique and took a lot of photos!   We saw a lot of antelope but too far out to take a picture.  The prairie dogs were adorable as always - don't these two look like they are holding hands?  We were driving along and suddenly there was a longhorn sheep right next to the truck along the side of the road!   We stopped to let him catch up to us when we realized there was an entire herd across the street!   In the one photo you can see mom climbing up the steep rocks and if you look closely baby is behind her.   They both made it just fine.  The rest of the herd was in the shade as it was 90 degrees plus today.   We didn't see a single bison UNTIL we left the park - then we saw several small herds off in the distance.   We rounded a corner and suddenly saw this big boy just crusing along the ranch's fenceline - right by the road.  So cool!

Coming up along the highway.

The colors are so pretty - these photos do not show well enough

Praire - then canyon - then cliffs ...

Love the red and yellow with the green grass

So gorgeous!
