Tawas - Oscoda Area

We had a very nice stay on Lake Huron area.   It's a very pretty area and much less commerizliaed and busy then the western shore of MI on Lake Michigan.

We took a trip up the shoreland and explored Alpena.  We went to the Great Lakes Maritime museum to.  But as you can see a fierce storm irrupted and Captain Bill had to jump up to the wheel of the boat but he pulled us back to shore safely.

It has some interesting areas such as the steel Eagle's head, old school house for the loggers children - now located near the lighthouse, Paul Bunyan made of car parts and the 3D ocean scene.  The water is crystal clear and the striking colors of blue, green and teal are gorgeous.

The caterpillar was just a crazy markings so I was fascinated by it.  Still can't figure out what it is... Google says it is a moth that only lives in England... lol!   Not much help there.

We drove a couple hours south to Frankenmurth.  It was a fun town with some Bavarian influences.  There was a few stores, a river boat, and a Christmas store that was fun to walk through.
