Scotts Bluff

We had a very nice time in Scotts Bluff despite the Nebraska heat.   The western area of Nebraska is quite beautiful with all the plains and suddenly bluffs appearing in the horizon.  We couldn't stop thinking about all the brave men and women who came here in covered wagons - what perils they faced with the blazing heat, storms, tornados, snakes, illness etc... Our admiration grew the more we learned.

One of our first stops was Papa Moon Winery.  It was very relaxing with the beautiful patio and garden area.

The next day we got up early and walked up Scotts Bluff!  It was definitely a hike up and back - just over 3 miles.  We were quite proud when we got back down.  The tunnels were fun and provided some shade and cooling.

The final day we drove out to Carhenge.  When the creator was asked why build a replicate of Stonehenge with cars - he responded - 'why not?'   I love it!  We also drove by Chimney Rock which appears to be shrinking ... we expected it to be much taller.  That is not really surprising I suppose with all the sandstone here.
