Hershey

We drove from New York to Hershey PA through the Poconos Mountains. They are really pretty in the fall! Its another bonus area that I had heard about and wanted to go to. Fun to see them! Of course - the photos do not do them justice. Bill also meet a Wood Turtle friend in the stream.

Hershey, PA -what can you say about an entire city that celebrates chocolate. We enjoyed our time at Hersheyworld. HersheyPark is only running on weekends this time a year but that isn't something we need to do. We did the free ride about how the chocolate is made. We enjoyed that and the cute little 'kiss' car we rode in. Then at the end we got a candy bar. :) We went early before the crowds of busloads came. By the huge bags of their purchases we saw them buying - we got by very cheaply. With simple postcards starting at $1.50 you can imagine the prices of everything from apparel to milkshakes to toys!

We drove to Middletown and by 3 mile island - it is frightening to see how close it is to the town! I had no idea! We also stopped by a house from the 1700's that is encased in a glass house to preserve it.

We hiked through some woods and found Conewago Falls. The incredible potholes formed during the Ice Age in the vortex in the rock. Some of the potholes are really deep - 1-5 feet across. Many were worn completely smooth and were just beautiful.

We ended the day by stopping at a cute winery and enjoyed the sunshine and a nice bottle of wine.

We also took at day to travel to both Lititz and Gettysburg.
