Pictured Rocks - Munising
We have been so impressed with how green it is here! There are so many waterfalls to explore but unfortunately with the boot on my foot - only 2 we can actually get to. :( It was fun to see the blueberries along the broadwalk and a little frog friend! The lake was foggy at times but then would clear - interesting to see how that can happen so fast.
The Pickle Barrel House in Grand Marais (MI not MN) was a fun surprise! I don't know this creator - William Donahey from the early 1900's but the story was still very interesting.
Lakenenland was an incredible place - I can't believe it is free. The story of the artist is well worth the quick read. Tom Lakenen is very creative and so generous with his sculptures and his land! It was hard to pick just a few to show here - there are so many more. Bill's favorite was the boat with the shelves or maybe the skeleton looking guy. Mine was the Owl with the fish. I love that he has created so many you are able to interact with - no stay off signs here.
The Painted Rock cruise was a highlight of the week. Such gorgeous colors, interesting stories and amazing views. So many photos - and I actually cut it down! It was pretty shocking when the driver took that big boat into a little deadend cove! I am so glad to see that the green of the water shows - it wasn't always that teal color but it was gorgeous when it was! Pure Michigan is a great catch phrase for this beautiful spot!
The last day we checked out a local favorite meal of Pasties -prounced Past-Tees. It was good - the rhubage adds something different. We also tried an apple dessert one. Also good. Then Bill had to check out the local brewery!
