Watertown

On the way driving in to our next campsite - Bill noticed a wayside rest in Ortonville, MN where we could pull over.  One of the best things about pulling a trailer is we don't have to find a clean bathroom.  There we saw these interesting artifacts...Paul Bunyan's anchor and blacksmith's shop from Clinton, MN.   There was a no explaination about why they were there... they just were!

Watertown is a cute town on the edge of the border of MN and SD.  I didn't know that it is also artist Terry Redlin's hometown.  Thanks for the tip about the free art center, cousin Bridget!  I have seen and appreciated his art for many years.  It was cool to see so many of his original paintings and hear about his life.  The museum and grounds were lovely.

After that we drove around downtown and found this adorable winery/chocolate shoppe - Watertown Confectionery.  The owners, Mike and Vickie, could not have been nicer.  Mike gave us a lot of history about the area as he poured our wine tastes.  Vickie hand dips all the chocolate and it was so yummy!

Paul Bunyan's anchor

We didn't know that Paul Bunyan had an anchor... actually we didn't know he had a boat!

A blacksmith shop that still existed into the 1970s

Terry Redlin

Redlin's work is very distinctive

Cute gift shop inside the museum
